When it comes down to professional grade displays NEC is one of the most renowned names out there, the Japanese company just announcing a new monitor in the SpectraView line, the 231 that features a 23 inch, Full HD, hardware-calibratable panel.

Similarly to its older brothers, the SpectraView 241 and 271, this new display also comes with a 14-bit LUT for improved colour control as well as Digital Uniformity Control and Backlight Ageing Correction technologies in order to cater to colour-critical users needs that work in the fields of digital photo-editing and video-processing, colour workflow, pre-press or DTP.

All these are possible thanks to a high-end IPS panel, that is able to cover about 75% of the Adobe RGB colour space and offers a 178 horizontal/178 vertical viewing angle, NEC's display also coming with picture in picture capabilities as well as a integrated, programmable USB hub that allows the connection of multiple PC platforms, so that a single mouse and keyboard can control two computers.

Other features include a DisplayPort connector as well as two DVI-D interfaces and a VGA analogue input, the SpectraView 231 also coming with a hight adjustable stand that can position the display in either landscape or portrait mode.

"The new NEC SpectraView 231 offers an excellent price/performance ratio," says Christopher Parker, Product Line Manager for Professional Displays at NEC Display Solutions.

"With this product, we're offering professional users a high-end colour-critical display at an unbeatable low price."

But don't get your hopes up just yet since the NEC SpectraView 231 will set you back a full €979, certainly a bit to much for the average Joe, although professional users will find this to be quite an affordable price point for such a high quality display.

This new SpectraView monitor is available right now for purchase, this also being available in the US for an estimated $929.00, according to NEC.
