New MMO comes next year

NCsoft, the company specialized in creating hit MMORPG games (such as Lineage or Guild Wars) has announced a brand new title to be released in early 2009. Named Aion: The Quest for Wings, the game is said to be prepared so as to come and "blur the lines between what has typically been considered the realms of dark and light," according to GameZone.

Aion: The Tower of Eternity presents the tale of three races (even though only two are playable). The game takes place in the already classic world that has been shattered: on one side of the abyss is the realm of the Elyos, a race that is somewhat similar to angels, while on the other side we have the Asmodians, with wings made of leather and dark feathers. As you can imagine, the two races have common descendants but are now in open conflict (and there is also another race that can be drawn into the battle). Your job? Choose a side and start fighting.

You will see that the game comes with a pretty complex story that will surely make you love it in an instant. You get the chance to choose your destiny: first, you'll have to run a quest that will allow you the use of wings. Then your adventure begins and you'll have to choose a specialization (or class), defeat tons of soldiers and eventually prove that your race is the best.

We don't know for the moment whether NCsoft will use its traditional focus on PvP combat or make out of Aion: The Quest for Wings a more story-driven experience, but one thing is clear: the game promises to bring us some great fun and, no matter if we go attack the bosses together with our guild members or fight against other players, we'll have a great experience. All that remains to be announced now is the release date and whether it is going to be a free-to-play title based on microtransactions or a subscription-based one.
