NCP Engineering has launched a new entry version of its IPsec VPN client suite compatible with Apple’s Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard operating systems.

The NCP Secure Mac Client is a powerful VPN solution that enables users to securely connect to their corporate networks remotely.

[admark=1]In addition to supporting strong authentication, it features NCP's Path Finder technology used in tandem with the NCP Secure Enterprise Server. A personal firewall and FIPS rounds up the list of key features.

Delving deeper into the benefits of using NCP Secure Mac Client, NCP Engineering says it supports the Extensible Authentication Protocols (EAP) MD5 and Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Companies can further prevent unauthorized users from entering local area networks (LANs) on their 802.1x-enabled switches or Wi-Fi access points.

A split tunneling mode is also integrated in the IPsec VPN client, allowing for concurrent connections to target systems within the Internet and to the company network through the VPN tunnel.

The ability to directly share hotspot log-on details and roaming policies with remote employees is there for IT administrators, while the client gives remote staff daily VPN configuration and management tips, as well as feature information.

“The intuitive graphical user interface provides information on all connection and security states and it can optionally be minimized to the Mac OS X menu bar, saving valuable space on the desktop,” NCP explains.

According to the product fact sheet, key features include:

- Compatiblity with VPN gateways (IPsec standard) - Ability to import of third party configuration files - Integrated, dynamic personal firewall - Fallback IPsec -> HTTPS (VPN Path Finder Technology) - Strong authentication - Integration of all security and communication technologies for universal remote access - FIPS inside - Free 30 day trial (all features enabled).
