The NBC production of “The Sound of Music” has caused a lot of ink to be spilled as people's opinion on the show, in general, and the singing of the various stars, in particular, was very divided. Regardless, for the network, it’s been a huge success, with significant viewer ratings and press coverage.

Now, the television network is already announcing the performance for this year's Christmas special: it will be a live act of “Peter Pan.” Carrie Underwood's performance in “The Sound of Music” might have earned her some bad reviews, but for NBC it meant 18 million viewers who initially tuned it to see the show.

This time, they are going with a similarly popular title that has seen numerous versions being staged over the years. The news that “Peter Pan” would be the next live act to show for Christmas was made by Robert GreenBlatt at the TCA winter press tour this weekend.

He says that the production is still in its very early stages and that he has already signed on a “dream choice” for the main role, without disclosing any further details. The people who will be in charge of this production were announced as producers Craig Zardan and Neil Meron.
