14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Games have announced that they have run a simulation of the coming playoff period for the National Basketball League using the game engine of NBA 2K15 and that the Golden State Warriors are predicted to become champions in the end.
The final will see the team from Oakland face the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the sim says that the final score will be 4 to 2, with the heavy favorites of most bookmakers able to win only the third and fifth match.
Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors is the Most Valuable Player of the finals, according to NBA 2K15, and he has managed a performance that has overshadowed that of LeBron James.
The development team at Visual Concepts also says that San Antonio Spurs managed to make it on the Western Conference finals but failed to take the most important shots, as they were defeated by the Golden State Warriors.
In the East, the divisional finals featured the team from Cleveland and the Hawks, who were defeated despite a solid performance.
It will be interesting to see how the engine of NBA 2K15, updated with a range of data gathered during the season, will manage to predict the real world NBA final results.
The Madden series from EA Sports has managed to very accurately foretell the result of the Super Bowl recently, but NBA Live was not used to offer a prediction for the basketball playoffs.
NBA 2K16 is already in development
Both companies involved with the NBA 2K series are already working on the installment that will be launched this year, probably at some point in October.
No official announcement has been made about the new features, but fans are expecting an improved control system and more options for the tactical side.
NBA 2K15 has been a solid success for 2K Sports and the company will be keen to make sure that it introduces a new title that can stand up to any challenge from the NBA Live franchise from EA Sports.
The community is also hotly debating who the cover star for NBA 2K16 will be and whether the publisher can get a high profile pop-star to curate the official soundtrack for the basketball sim.
