NBA 2K10 has already been announced and detailed by Take Two and its shaping up to be another good game in the series that debuted ten years ago and has given the NBA games from EA Sports a run for their money. And 2K Sports could not let this occasion pass by without releasing a special edition of the game to celebrate it while also making a bit of money out of it.

So, the company has announced NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition, which is set to be released just for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The normal edition of the NBA game will also be launched for the PlayStation 2, the Nintendo Wii, the PSP and the PC on October 6.

And the new package is really offering gamers a lot of fresh stuff. There's a 2K Sports locker complete with a lock, a figurine of Kobe Bryant, who is on the cover of the game, from McFarlane Toys, and a poster of the same athlete created by Shephard Fairey's studio, the same that created the iconic Obama election poster.

The Anniversary Edition also allows players to enter a VIP-only online game lobby, which grants access to a variety of new, exclusive events. Basically, players who get the new special edition will be able to take part in special events under the watchful gaze of the biggest player in basketball, Kobe Bryant.

And if this is not enough, 2K Sports is also offering a DVD showing how NBA 2K has evolved over the years, from the first title outed to this year’s new release. The only problem is that NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition will cost 99.99 dollars, a bit too much in a recession. Still, fans of the series and of Kobe Bryant will probably make the special edition release a success.
