This might as well turn out to be the slate Sammy will unveil in January

There has been a lot of fuss around Samsung and its upcoming four tablets scheduled for Q1 2014, as everybody is trying to guess which slates the tech giant is going to unveil.

Not so long ago we have seen the elusive SM-T900/T905 tablet (probably two different versions of the same slate model) show up in some shipping documents, attesting the existence of a product that has been sent to India for R&D purposes.

Now another mysterious Sammy slate has been spotted going through the FCC, bearing the model number SM-T520, definitely a different product from the one we just mentioned above.

The FCC filing describes it as a “Portable tablet” and apparently it supports Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Its physical measurements have also been listed, so we’re dealing with a 243 mm / 9.5 inches wide and 172 mm / 6.7 inches tall tablet here. This means the mysterious model is part of the larger slate group with a display of 10-inches.

And that’s not the only place where the upcoming SM-T520 has been spotted. The same tablet was awarded certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

The model number seems to indicate that the tablet is part of the Galaxy Tab series, but it’s pretty unlikely this is the next-generation Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

Other information about the device is not provided, so we can’t be sure what operating system will run on the new device, but we bet our money on Android. Samsung is probably still far from joining the Windows 8 family, unless we’re talking of the 13.3-inch dual booting tablet we speculated might turn out to be forgotten, the Ativ Q.

Samsung has also been said to be working on 8-inch and 10-inch AMOLED screen tablets, and since there’s no information about the display here, we could assume the unknown SM-T520 might come with an AMOLED display.

In recent days, a new report coming out of Asia promised January 2014 would see the unveiling of an 10.5-inch AMOLED tablet form Sammy. Is this it?
