Video has no audio, is barely a few seconds long – but still pretty awesome

“The Devil Inside” is the best example of how a well-executed viral campaign can help even the smallest and, in this particular case, uninspired project reach out to an impressive audience and make a fortune in the process.

The video above could also be part of one such campaign though, for the time being, no one knows which movie it’s supposed to promote.

It emerged online after editors at Slash Film, one of the biggest e-zines in the field, received a cryptic message with it attached.

The message was in Portuguese and said something about the mysterious disappearance of a California girl who was later found in the Oriximina area. She’s been in a coma ever since but no one knows what exactly happened to her.

This mysterious video, of an apparently dead, amphibious-like creature, was found on her phone… which might not even be her phone because her parents refused to say whether it was hers or not.

In other words, lots of unknowns in this equation. Slash Film seems inclined to believe this is truly a viral – and an awesome one while at it – but, if it is, what could it be promoting?
