Every once in a while, every human being feels the need to be generous and share what he/she has with another that was less fortunate in life. Some say that they don't mind sharing when they have a lot of something but the problem completely changes when they have little of that particular something, be it money or time to help others. We know that the latter category is either going to heaven or has some terrible sins to atone for so I won't dwell on them. Suffice to say that I'm most likely not going to heaven. (Should I have written it with a capital H? What if it matters?)

MySpace now gives its users the means to express that humanitarian side of them and has created a channel dedicated to charities and social causes, dubbed "MySpace Impact" that allows users to start campaigns, offer to volunteer their time and raise money.

Ever since it saw the light, it has gathered over 8500 friends among which Unicef, RED, Friends of the Earth, Amnesty and Shelter. "MySpace Impact is about helping people to take action and make a difference," said Jamie Kantrowitz, Senior Vice President, Content and Marketing, MySpace International. "Whether it's global issues or specific, local campaigns, young people are increasingly aware of the issues in their community. MySpace Impact allows them to get their voice heard in a place that's their own - their MySpace page."

MySpace Impact also allows charities to set up their up their own profile page with news, videos, fundraising tools and various campaign resources. Turning to this resort because of the huge number of fans that the social-networking site has is one of the more brilliant twists in the plot that was ever possible and an incredible advertising platform.
