What if Yahoo buys YouTube?

Google owns YouTube and makes it even more powerful periodically, but let's suppose that Yahoo, the giant portal, buys YouTube. Let's see what happens next. First of all, I don't think Yahoo would pay such a large amount of money for an online video sharing service because the giant portal is rarely trying to improve its video products. For example, the company first updated Yahoo Video today after a long period of anonymity when the market was entirely controlled by the Mountain View company.

But if Yahoo buys YouTube, do you think the giant portal would encounters the same copyright problems as the rival Google? I am almost 100 percent sure that Yahoo would also have federal trouble because the company was also sent to the judge for copyright infringement. Although it was sued for its newspaper solution, Yahoo was accused of infringing the copyright of the Belgian newspapers by publishing their headlines and news content. This is a clear sign that Yahoo also has problems with its filters so, no big difference between Google and Yahoo.

I think only one major thing would be different: Yahoo is more receptive to the authorities' demands, so if a government requires Yahoo to remove a clip, the video is instantly deleted. As you might know, Google encountered some big problems in Thailand where the government accused the company for refusing to remove incriminatory clips showing content which seemed offensive for the country's king. The Google representatives sustained that the company doesn't intend to remove the clip as it doesn't infringe any guideline imposed by the video service.

So, not much difference between Google and Yahoo. What do you thing about this imaginary acquisition? Please keep in mind that this is only a fictional story, so you should only give your opinion about a potential improvement made by Yahoo to YouTube.
