My favorite plugins for Admin Panel

A great feature that you will need is the integration of PHPMyAdmin in to your Wordpress Admin Panel. WP-phpMyAdmin gives you access to your databases from the Administration Panel, so you won't need to keep open another window. Some of the PHPMyAdmin features were removed or changed slightly for things to work and to maintain security. You will find the plugin in Manage Menu from the Administration Panel.

Another plugin that will make very easy the work with databases is WP-DBManager. WP-DBManager allows you to optimize database, repair database, backup database, restore database, delete backup database, drop/empty tables and run selected queries. Supports automatic scheduling of backing up and optimizing of database. This plugin will create another tab in the Administration Panel from where you can modify your database. WP-phpMyAdmin and WP-DBManager are approximately the same, but if you worked before with phpMyadmin you will enjoy the integration in Wordpress.

When I presented the first plugin I told you that moving something in your site can get you in trouble. Using Permacop you can redirect any URL to another. Also you can use this plugin to generate short urls for important posts, redirect identical addresses, create links for file downloads and more.

Another useful plugin is InstantUpgrade. The InstantUpgrade plugin downloads the latest WordPress version from the WordPress server and unpacks it at your server. In the next step, it deletes all of your old WordPress files (except wp-content/ and wp-config.php, language packs are preserved, too) and puts the new files into your WordPress directory. At last, it runs the upgrade script contained in the new WordPress version. Using this plugin you can upgrade Wordpress by pressing just one button.

If you want to inform users about something important (features improvements, wordpress upgrade) the most common way is to send them an email. Email users allows you to send an e-mail to your registered blog users, based on their role.
