Musix is out!

The first stable release of the Musix 1.0 OS version is finally available. According to the developer team, Musix is a 100% free multimedia system, derived from Knoppix and Debian stable, designed for artists as well as for general users.

The Ututo Proyect, FSF and Ourproject, as well as other usual collaborators have also offered their support into developing and releasing this new stable version. Specialized in audio and music production, Musix includes high quality software for graphics, video edition and many other tasks.

Highlights:

- the 2.6.21 Linux kernel version included - updated documentation - numerous applications have been upgraded, such as Ardour to 2.0.0.2 or Rosegarden to 1.5.1 - new programs installed: MScore, Nekobee and more - Musix Control Panel was upgraded - bug-fixes and new functionality added - improved UI - KDE and GNOME looks almost identical - improvement in the language support, especially German and Portuguese but also Finnish, Italian, French, Serbian, Catalan and Polish

Among the software featured in Musix 1.0 R1 there are: Cinelerra (video edition), Bluefish (web design), GIMP (image manipulation), InkScape (vectorial graphic design) or Blender3D (3D rendering and animation). This first stable Musix 1.0 release comes after almost a month and a half since the release of the RC1. The RC1 featured more than 190 upgraded software packages since 0.99 from Debian/Stable at the time. It also announced to take in a 2.6.21 kernel, at that time having a 2.6.21 RC7 kernel installed.

The Musix team also made available a few details regarding the forthcoming Musix 1.0 Live-DVD release. According to them, this version should contain more bug-fixes, as reported by users of Musix 1.0. The system should also have a better language support (60 or more) and many multimedia and office applications (such as Amarok or OpenOffice).
