New remote control concept changes the way you interact with the TV

Tired of the old way of controlling the TV, Murata, a Japanese technology company, has developed a new prototype remote that can switch the channels, or adjust the volume, by simply twisting or bending it.

Currently a prototype, the device is named the “Leaf Grip Remote Controller,” and is made out of a a thin piece of piezoelectric film that is easily bendable.

The remote can operate without the need for any batteries as it gets recharged from the sun thanks to a photovoltaic cell that converts light into electricity.

The real breakthrough however, is the way the remote controls the TV. To change the channels you simply have to twist the plate, or to switch the input from your Blu-ray player to your Xbox, you have to twist the plate rapidly.

Of course that a traditional remote controller can do a lot more things than this concept developed by Murata, but the technology is cool none the less. Take a look at the above video to see for yourself. (via Geek)
