Although desktop and room system-based video conferencing services are not exactly a huge novelty, the truth of the matter is that most people out there require more mobile solutions, given the fact that they spend a lot of time on the go, and that's exactly what Elisa and Vidyo will offer. So, Elisa Corporation, announced today that Elisa is launching the first enterprise-grade, multi-party, TV-quality video conferencing service that enables users on smart phones and tablets to connect into video conferences with desktop and room system endpoints.

Elisa has partnered with Vidyo, Inc. for their desktop and room system-based video conferencing services and will now expand this offering to smart phones and tablets, because these devices offer a level of flexibility and efficiency that allow employees to be both mobile and productive.

By providing video conferencing capabilities on these devices, businesses are enhancing productivity and efficiency among their employees and increasing the utilization of smart phones and tablets.

“We believe that mobile devices are a great tool for business users on the go to participate in HD multi-party video conferences, beyond point-to-point “chat,” said Ofer Shapiro, CEO and co-founder of Vidyo.

“Elisa Corporation is an innovative service provider and is leading the industry in mobile user experiences around the nascent but growing video conferencing market through offering the first pilot service for tablet and smart phone users. Vidyo is pleased to have its technology used in the inaugural launch of Elisa’s service, delivering unmatched video quality for the cost of voice-only solutions,” added Mr. Shapiro.

“Business professionals are ‘on the move’ and as they become more mobile, they need communication tools that allow them to connect to video conferences from whatever devices are most convenient to them, wherever they are,” said Pasi Mäenpää, Elisa's Corporate Customers Business Unit Director.

“Smart phones and tablet PCs allow enterprise personnel to be flexible and mobile; to conduct ‘on the go’ informal meetings. Travel time and waiting at airports can now be used productively and efficiently. Desktop, and now smart phone and tablet computers, offer much untapped potential and only Vidyo can enable this quality of video conferencing,” concluded Elisa's rep.
