If you chance by Hyde Park’s Serpentine Lake these days, you might be in for the surprise of a lifetime, especially if you’re a fan of Jane Austen’s works and how they’ve been brought to life on the small and big screen.

The video above is a report explaining how a giant fiberglass statue of Mr. Darcy was brought and planted in the lake, thus recreating in real life that which fans have come to refer to as “the lake scene.”

Said scene, by the way, with Colin Firth, is embedded below.

The statue will remain at Serpentine Lake for another while, before moving around a bit, heading to the final destination of Lyme Park, where the scene in question was shot.

The statue is part of an advertising strategy for a new TV channel called Drama, which will only air British productions.
