The Mozilla Foundation sent out a request at the end of last week, addressed to all Firefox fans who wanted to appear in a commercial to send a video of them telling a short story about how they love something or everything about the browser. Based on these statements, the company plans to initiate a global promoting strategy which should improve Firefox's market share compared to the leader, Internet Explorer.
Mozilla has set up a website for fans to upload 30-second videos describing why they like the browser. The contest will continue with another category, called Firefox Flicks, which is set to be launched in mid-December, and is aimed at creative professionals and students.
Firefox has always been promoted using non-ordinary strategies, the best way to prove this was having a two-page ad in The New York Times in November 2004.
