Mozilla has just released another beta version of its Firefox browser for Android devices. Firefox Beta 22 can be downloaded via Google Play, but Android users should take into consideration the fact that this is still a work in progress.

The main highlight of the new Firefox Beta 22 is the new full tablet UI that is now available for smaller tablets as well.

This feature was not included in any of the previous beta versions of Firefox, so Android enthusiasts who own smaller tablets will now be able to unleash the full potential of the browser’s UI.

According to Mozilla, the Android version of Firefox Beta received improved WebGL rendering performance through asynchronous canvas updates.

In addition, plain text files displayed within Firefox will now word-wrap, and the CSS3 Flexbox has been implemented and enabled by default.

Last but not least, there’s a new Web Notifications API included and new HTML5 <data> and <time> elements.

However, there are some known issues that have yet to be addressed in future updates. Those who wish to download and install Firefox Beta on their Android devices may want to check the full list of known issues before starting using the application:

- Some recent changes in the Google layout and CSS may cause issues in non-webkit browsers like Firefox (see 668288); - Firefox for Android uses the same locale as your system language settings (see 695565); - Font inflation may sometimes render inconsistent font sizes on certain pages (see 707195) Firefox Sync will not behave as expected if multiple Firefox channels are installed on a single device (see 761206); - “Video can't be played because the file is corrupt” on some HTC Gingerbread (Android 2.3) devices (see 829454); - Private Browsing – can't see URL bar text on variant of HTC Sense UI (Froyo) (see 833351).

Firefox Beta 22 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0 and up. Check it out here.
