These predators are presently moving from Nevada to California

Throughout the past 10 years, several biologists have been busy keeping a close eye on the mountain lion population in the US.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the data collected during their research into the behavior of these predators suggests that mountain lions are now on the move.

More precisely, they are leaving Nevada and heading out towards California instead.

Apparently, the main drive behind their moving into these territories has to do with better living conditions and more abundant prey.

The behavior these predators exhibit puzzles biologists to a certain extent, seeing how they initially predicted that these big cats would be more likely to move into Nevada, rather than away from it.

“It gives us a better picture of how lions are moving on the landscape. We predicted we would have more lions coming in from California. We were surprised the Sierra itself was a net importer,” commented on these findings researcher Jon Beckmann.
