Those thinking about journeying all the way to the top of Mount McKinley just to have something to brag about to their friends might want to cancel their plans after learning that this peak is about 83 feet (25 meters) shorter than previously believed.

Information shared with the public by geographers in the United States says that, according to recent measurements, Mount McKinley measures merely 20,237 feet (6,168 meters) in height, Gizmodo reports.

Previous measurements, carried out back in 1952, indicated that this peak, which also happens to be the highest in North America, stood some 20,320 feet (6,193.5 meters) tall, the same source tells us.

Presently, researchers are unable to say whether Mount McKinley has, for some reason, shrunk, or if maybe past measurements were not as accurate at people assumed them to be.
