The information surfaces via a couple of patents published this week

Back in November 2013, a report coming out of Asia claimed that companies like BlackBerry, HTC and Motorola might be thinking of abandoning the tablet game in the year to come.

With brand vendors such as ASUS, Lenovo, Samsung, Acer, Dell or Toshiba spurting out products at an incredibly fast rate, minor players like Motorola remain stuck in the shadows.

Motorola became quasi-known in the tablet industry with its Xoom slate, but the product pretty much faded away in 2012.

Nevertheless new hope exists, now that Google has acquired Motorola Mobility, so wouldn't it be high-time for a comeback in the tablet field? Especially since Google sits on an entire treasure chest of patents and inventions

Now, it appears Motorola might be cooking up something. A recent duo of patents filed by the company outlines a new device that comes equipped with a 3D display (via PatentBolt).

According to the information available there, the tablet screen will be capable to “display objects in a stereoscopic manner so that their manipulation is intuitive to a user and they provide a realistic stereoscopic appearance before, during and after manipulation.”

Motorola’s patents have been published only now by the US Patent & Trademark Office, but have been originally filled long ago, back in June 2012.

We can only wonder what stereotypic experience actually means. It can be hypothesized the possible tablet could provide a more engaging, immersive 3D experience (minus any annoying glass) without eating up the battery life.

Some time ago, LG also tried giving birth to a 3D tablet with an 8-inch screen (which might be considered pretty visionary, when considering it was years ago) but the effort didn't take off, because the model wasn't really a commercial product.

According to Gartner, tablets are going to see a massive growth of 47% in 2014, and if Motorola gears up with the right products, it might share in the tasty tablet pie with other players like Apple and Samsung.
