Motorola and Nextel have teamed up to offer Argentinian customers yet another PTT-enabled handset, the i940. However, aside from its dedicated Push-to-Talk communication services, the device offers consumers the advantages of Google's Android platform.

According to Motorola, the i940 will be available in Argentina beginning May 17. Although the handset maker failed to provide a price tag for the smartphone, we know it will be up for sale at Nextel.

Customers who are having second thoughts should know that Motorola i940 combines the speed and reliability of Nextel two-way radio service with the functionality of the Android platform.

It is also worth mentioning that Motorola i940 comes with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, the largest screen available for a Nextel device.

Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, Motorola i940 provides access to more than 450,000 apps via Google Play Store.

Keep in mind that aside from access to Google Play store, the smartphone comes pre-loaded with various social network applications, including Facebook and Twitter.

In addition, the handset provides instant access to corporate and personal email through Nextel’s email application. Users will also be able to synchronize calendars and contacts with Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Last but not least, Motorola i940 features Contactos Nextel, an innovative application that synchronizes information from address books as well as from various social networks.

With Contactos Nextel, the carrier's subscribers will be able to connect with each other, make calls, send text messages, upload photos and interact with social networks all through this interface.

Motorola i940 packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording. A 2 GB microSD memory card is available as well, but storage can be expanded up to 32GB.

Other highlights of the smartphone include multimedia player, Bluetooth, Opera Mini browser, and 3.5 mm audio jack.
