A 5 Megapixel camera in a 10 millimeter thick slider

While other manufacturers have come up with super-high-end devices like HTC Touch HD, LG KC910, Samsung Innov8, Sony Ericsson C905, Nokia N96 and iPhone 3G, Motorola doesn't seem to have a handset that can really wow customers. We are not going to look now for the reasons why this is happening, but we will present you a Motorola concept that could easily fit into the group of devices listed above.

Called Motorola Z12 Eclipse, the concept in question is a slider that should target multimedia users. Its features include: a 5 Megapixel camera with xenon flash and auto focus, a large tempered glass display, a "revolutionary Orb Interface" that should offer an easy way to navigate through the menus, GSM and 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm headset jack and a generous built-in memory of 8GB. The phone also comes with dedicated music keys and a cool touch-sensitive navigation wheel. Moreover, its back case should be made out of brushed aluminum.

The Z12 Eclipse is said to weigh 118 grams and, when closed, to measure 100 x 50 x 10 millimeters – hence it would be among the thinnest sliders ever built. Overall, this Motorola concept looks really nice, and it would make a really hot product if ever built in reality.

Anyway, since the Z12 is only a concept made by a Motorola fan (most probably) and spotted on Flickr, there are few chances for it to ever make it to the mobile market.

Of course, there are rumors saying that Moto is readying one or even two 8 Megapixel handsets – Motorola Alexander and Motorola Atila – but until the North American manufacturer gets official with at least one of them, it will still stay in the shadow of the producers mentioned at the beginning of this article. So, let's hope Moto will soon come up with a new and cool device, just for the sake of a fair competition if not for something else.
