Mobile phone maker Motorola came to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January 2011 with its first tablet PC running under Google's Android operating system, the Motorola XOOM, which should be released on the market in the near future on the airwaves of Verizon in the US. Prior to CES 2011, the handset vendor touted the Motorola XOOM tablet PC as being the most advanced such device that would land on the market during the ongoing year, and the video ad available now with it tends to show the same.

Indeed, Motorola's Android tablet, powered by the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system flavor, is capable of providing users with a wide range of capabilities unavailable on other devices for the time being.

Packing an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor running at 1 GHz, along with a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display capable of delivering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, the upcoming handset should indeed offer a great experience to all users.

Moreover, Motorola touts the new device as headed to the market with a rear-facing 5-megapixel photo snapper that would also offer 720p HD video recording capabilities complemented by a front-facing 2-megapixel camera for video chats over wireless networks.

The tablet PC would land on shelves with support for Wi-Fi and 3G, but should be upgraded with 4G LTE connectivity options too, the handset vendor announced officially.

The specifications list of the new device also includes support for Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction, access to the Android Market, 1080p HD video playback, HDMI output, support for Adobe Flash Player, and more.

Here's what Motorola notes on its YouTube account as description to the video embedded below:

Introducing MOTOROLA XOOM, the first tablet featuring Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), with front and rear cameras including HD capture, a dual core processor with 1GB of RAM for lightening quick operation, multitasking, superior graphics, plus Adobe Flash Player for an unrestricted web experience, and all played out on a beautiful 10.1" HD widescreen display.

No specific info on when would Motorola XOOM arrive on the market emerged for the time being, but Motorola said that it should land as a 3G/Wi-Fi-enabled device in Q1 2011.
