The tablet PC will be released exclusively via Best Buy

Motorola Mobility has just announced the release of a new tablet PC, none other than the recently rumored Motorola XOOM Family Edition,which is based on Google's Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS flavor, and which will be released exclusively through Best Buy starting October 16th. The new device arrives on shelves with support for TV content aimed at the entire family, as well as with fun, educational games for kids of all ages. It will also pack the award-winning Zoodles application, so that parents can keep kids away from inappropriate content.

The new device arrives on the market with appealing features, including a fast dual-core application processor with each core clocked in at 1GHz, as well as with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a HD resolution.

“Nowadays, everyone from mom, dad to the youngest child use the same tablet device. We set out to design a device that's kid and family-friendly yet versatile enough to handle your business needs,” said Jim Hamilton, corporate vice president, global retail & distribution, Motorola Mobility.

“The Motorola XOOM Family Edition offers a world of games, shows and video tools and because it's from Motorola, you know it's durable and will last for years to come.”

The new device also arrives on shelves with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, shich sports flash and HD video recording capabilities, as well as with 16GB of built-in memory.

The tablet PC arrives on devices with $40 worth of applications, and with the aforementioned Zoodles software. Moreover, it includes the MotoPack by Motorola XOOM app, MotoPrint, and Quickoffice Pro HD for seamless productivity.

The new device also comes with HDMI connectivity, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, and fast access to applications in the Android Market, and to various Google Mobile Services.

The new Motorola XOOM Family Edition is expected to become available for purchase exclusively via Best Buy starting with October 16th, and will feature a price tag of $379 for a limited period of time.
