Motorola's XOOM somewhat recovered from the rather underwhelming start but it appears customers might be getting a new reason to feel frustrated, at least as far as Canada is concerned.

The operating system of an electronic holds a great deal of sway over how well said product runs and on the content possible to run on it.

In this respect, slates are similar to smartphones in the way their OS gets updated to newer versions as soon as their maker or carrier can sent it out.

Unfortunately, things don't always go smoothly and, in certain cases, some consumers get their updates on time and others don't.

It is this very sort of problem that is plaguing the Motorola XOOM tablet, the one that came out back in April, 2011.

Originally loaded with the Android 3.0 operating system (Honeycomb), it has been moving on to more advanced iterations, much like so many other slates have or are doing.

Unfortunately, only some countries have been blessed with a smooth transition, some having already gotten the Android 3.2 update.

One country that has yet to even pass over to Android 3.1 is Canada, where Motorola has been saying it is working as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, whatever talks it is holding with Google don't seem to be bearing any fruit.

“We want you to know that we read your comments every day and understand your concerns about the XOOM update,” is what the company said on its Facebook page just hours ago.

“We’ll let you know as soon as we have something to share. Thanks for your passion about our devices, excitement for new products and, most of all, your patience.”

Needless to say, Canadian customers are unlikely to be very pleased with the continued wait, especially after, back around the time of the slate's first unveiling, Motorola said it would deliver the update within a couple of months.
