Unveiled in November 2011, Motorola XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition have just been officially introduced in Germany. According to Samsung both tablets should be available for purchase in February 2012.

Unfortunately, the handset maker does not reveal any details on the slates’ exact release dates of pricing options. All in all, Germany would be the second European country that gets the new XOOM tablets through official channels, after UK.

Motorola XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition have similar specs sheets with small differences, such as the display, battery and pre-installed software.

It is also worth mentioning that the Motorola XOOM 2 is aimed at business consumers, whereas the XOOM 2 Media Edition will probably appeal to media lovers.

In this regard, the XOOM 2 comes with enterprise-grade security and Active Sync for work email, contacts and calendar. In addition, the tablet features USB and Ethernet connectivity, pre-loaded Citrix Receiver and Citrix GoToMeeting.

Tablets are quickly becoming a must-have tool for staying connected, getting work done and having fun at home and on the road,” said Ralf Gerbershagen, vice president and general manager Europe, Mobile Devices, Motorola Mobility.

Both tablets come pre-loaded with MotoCast application that allows users to access and stream content from a PC or Mac directly to the tablet.

Furthermore, Motorola XOOM 2 comes with 10.1-inch widescreen HD that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, while the XOOM 2 Media Edition features a slightly smaller 8.2-inch capacitive display with the same HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass.

Each tablet is equipped with an Nvidia Tegra2 dual core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a ULP GeForce graphics processing unit.

We are very excited about these two new additions to our tablet portfolio that build on the success of the original Motorola XOOM to now deliver more powerful tablet experiences to the European market,” concluded Gerbershagen.
