One day after launching the cheap Motorola GLEAM+ feature-phone in the UK, the US-based handset vendor debuts two more devices aimed at Android enthusiasts.

Motorola XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition are now available for purchase in the UK via major retailer Carphone Warehouse.

Each model comes in two versions, so customers get to choose from Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition Wi-Fi variant, which is available for £300 (475 USD or 365 EUR), or the XOOM 2 Media Edition Wi-Fi & 3G variant for £400 (635 USD or 485 EUR).

Furthermore, Motorola XOOM 2 Wi-Fi variant can be acquired for £350 (555 USD or 425 EUR), while the Wi-Fi & 3G variant can be purchased for £450 (715 USD or 545 EUR).

Both tablets are powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, but they’ve been confirmed for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime this year.

In addition, each slate is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, as well as capacitive touchscreen displays with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and a splashguard coating.

However, the XOOM 2 sports a 10.1-inch display, whilst the XOOM 2 Media Edition comes with a slightly smaller 8.2-inch screen. Both support HD (800 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

It is also worth mentioning both tablets feature dual cameras, 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Tablets are quickly becoming a must-have tool for staying connected, getting work done and having fun at home and on the road. We are very excited about the latest additions to our tablet portfolio that builds on the success of the original Motorola XOOM and the XOOM 2 Wi-Fi variants to deliver even more choice when it comes to tablet experiences in the UK,” said Victoria McManus, UK and Nordics marketing director, Motorola Mobility.
