Motorola continues the series of important acquisitions and has recently announced the singing of a definitive fusion agreement to buy Leapstone System, a private held communications software provider headquartered in New Jersey. Leapstone is a leading company when it comes to communications software development, providing a unified platform to conceive, manage and deliver video, voice and data services for various networks and devices. Leapstone's commercial success is showcased by the fact that important service suppliers are among its customers, suppliers like Verizon Wireless and AT&T.

Dan Moloney, President of Motorola Home & Networks Mobility, declared: "Leapstone will contribute its leading intelligent service delivery and content management platform to Motorola, which will serve as our new engine for enabling seamless mobility experiences across applications, devices and domains. We're pleased to add the talented Leapstone team and their proven powerful software platform to Motorola's end-to-end content delivery portfolio."

Leapstone's Communications Convergence Engine product suite is a service delivery platform with real-time performances. Through its compelling Service Broker and Content Manager software products, it helps mobile and fixed network operators to broaden and elaborate their service offerings.

"The combination of Leapstone's CCE with Motorola's world-class infrastructure equipment and consumer devices will offer service providers an integrated approach to deliver a unique combination of compelling end-user services to their customers," says Rick Orriss, Chief Executive Officer of Leapstone Systems. "Our team is excited to join an industry leader like Motorola and contribute to the Motorola's commitment to delivering innovative solutions for home and mobile networks."

The financial terms of the deal were not made public. However, the transaction is not finished yet, as it is subject to customary closing conditions and first needs the consent of Leapstone Systems stockholders. Motorola says the deal will most probably be completed in the third quarter of this year.
