Motorola VE20 is the name of a new handset that will be soon offered by Sprint, the third largest US mobile carrier. The VE20 was not yet officially announced, but it has recently appeared on the FCC website, together with a Sprint User Manual. [admark=1]The new VE20 is a CDMA EV-DO clamshell that doesn't look too different from the RAZR lineup of Moto phones. The unveiled features of the handset include: an internal display that might have a QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels), an external display with touch-sensitive keys, Bluetooth, USB, Web and email capabilities, a 2 Megapixel camera with digital zoom and video recording, microSD card support for up to at least 2GB, TTY compatibility, organizer, calendar, stopwatch, Notepad, unit converter and currency converter.

The VE20 also brings a set of Sprint-only services, like Sprint TV, Sprint Music Store, Sprint Voice Command, Sprint Power Vision and Sprint Picture Mail.

The dimensions of VE20 are not known, but the clamshell is probably as thin as the latest RAZR models, hence it might have around 12 millimeters in thickness - which is not bad at all.

There are no details yet about the release date and price of the new VE20 clamshell, but since FCC has approved the phone and Sprint has already made a User Manual, US users who might want the new Moto should expect it to arrive pretty soon, maybe before the end of the month.

Most of Sprint's current Motorola phones are for the Nextel Direct Connect network (i570, i850, ic902 etc), the only "regular Moto" being the RAZR V3m. Thus, the VE20 is surely a nice addition to Sprint's Motorola line-up. Now, all you have to do is wait for it. Or go buy a Samsung Instinct, if you're into touchscreen handsets ? la iPhone.
