Trouble in Sidekick Paradise

First problems with the recently released Sidekick Slide have just appeared, making it look pretty bad, especially if we think that fans looked forward to owning one for a great deal of time. A large number of such devices have been returned to stores and replaced.

The problem with Motorola's Sidekick Slide is that the phone automatically turns off when the user flips up the screen. Moreover, the hard resets when the battery is pulled while the device is still powered on. This makes the phone reset at random times, in the middle of an important call or while editing some personal files.

Things are not all that bad, as all Sidekick data is stored in a back-end server, which means that the user should manage to recover it after powering on the phone. Still, if there is no service in the area at that time, he can say goodbye to all the recent activity. Moreover, it's a real nuisance to have your mobile phone restart by itself, most probably in situations when the owner needs it most, as it usually happens.

The cause of this problem seems to be a slightly loose battery that jiggles out of place and leads to a reboot or shutdown of the Sidekick Slide. Users can choose to return their device for a brand new one instead, although the large number of reports makes it highly possible to stumble upon a device with the same issue.

A Slide phone that can't handle sliding right sounds like a real problem for the product itself and for the producer as well. The Sidekick Slide has been available across the US, at T-Mobile stores, since the beginning of November at a price of USD 200 with a two-year contract.
