It’s been only a month since Motorola introduced the SPICE XT Android-based smartphone in Chile, and the company is back with yet another entry-level smartphone, the SPICE Key.

Although the handset maker states that the smartphone is now available through main carriers in the country, there are no details on the SPICE Key pricing options yet.

Motorola SPICE Key offers users a full QWERTY keyboard with touchscreen display and ultimate personalization options users expect from the fun and versatile Android operating system.

Keep in mind that SPICE Key is less-featured than the SPICE XT, which was released in the country last month. The former is powered by a 600 MHz processor, whereas SPICE XT features a slightly superior 800 MHz CPU.

As the name suggests it, Motorola SPICE Key comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, allowing for faster and more accurate typing while on the move. In addition, the smartphone sports a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 262k colors support.

The combination of the physical QWERTY keyboard, the touchscreen display and access to the entertaining apps and games available from Android Market, set Motorola SPICE Key apart from other smartphone devices,” said Fernando Sanchez, general manager for Mobile Devices, Motorola Mobility Chile.

Motorola SPICE Key is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Moto Switch user interface on top, which allows users to seamlessly switch between work and play modes.

The device packs 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as a best-in-class 1420 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 720 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time (in 3G mode).

There’s also an average 3-megapixel camera on the back, which lacks both LED flash and autofocus.

With SPICE Key we are delivering devices that offer constant connectivity, entertainment and productivity, all in a modern and elegant design,” concluded Sanchez.
