Rumor has it that Motorola is in the process of designing and developing a new tablet. The company is probably encouraged by the fact that Moto X  proved to be a success, showcasing that customers really find an appeal to smartphones built in their home land.

As Motorola’s CEO Dennis Woodside stated, as cited by Engadget, consumers “are happy to have a choice of a product that’s built in the US.”

With its customizable options that let users choose between colors, accents and personalized inscriptions, the company has managed to win back consumers’ attention.

However, with just 100,000 unit shipments a week, Motorola still has some more work to do.

What if the Moto X can’t do it alone? What if the tech company needs another device added to its portfolio in order to hold a stronger grip of the overall mobile device market?

It might be possible that Motorola needs to roll out a tablet. And according to recent information, that’s exactly what it is working on.

By all possibilities, it could get the same treatment as the Moto X smartphone and be assembled at Motorola’s facility located in Dallas, Texas. And as Moto X, users will be able to customize the tablet.

Woodside said, “That’s something we are working on, but [there’s] nothing specific o talk about right now.”

And all the references to the Moto X seem to be justified. CEO Dennis Woodside himself recognizes that the design of the future tablet won’t be similar to previous slates like the Xoom and the Xyboard.

The inspiration for the upcoming tablet will come from the Moto X as well as some bits of pieces of its technologies.

So it’s possible that we will see the same voice-control features and the new lock screen with the new Motorola tablet.

The folks of Engadget have even nicknamed the prototype calling it the “Moto Tablet X” but we’re pretty sure this is not going to be final name.

Other information about the slate is not yet known, we can’t even pinpoint and say that Motorola is aiming at the 10-inch market or at the 7-inch one. Only time will tell.
