Motorola has recently released the fifth version of its Good Mobile Messaging solution. Announced in June this year after Motorola's acquisition of Good Technology, the new version adds more personalization and accessibility features and advanced smartphone security.

Good Mobile Messaging 5 introduces useful email and personal information management capabilities that allow mobile users to easily find what they need. New features added include the ability to group and find emails by conversation; complete end-to-end calendaring which helps invite participants to a meeting, provide real-time visibility into their free/busy status and automatically suggests and reserves conference rooms based on past preferences and availability; the possibility to edit and send pictures and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents; access to SMS, MMS and personal email from the Good Home Screen, and the possibility to dial a contact from a password-protected phone without requiring users to enter the password while keeping email and contacts data secure.

Another useful addition is a mobile RSS reader that allows users to keep up to date with information from preferred sources, including business news and alerts. Customers can subscribe to, manage and preview feeds without having to leave the email inbox. Other personalization features include the possibility to customize mail priority based on several criteria such as sender, distribution list, who's in the to: or cc: fields to help users quickly identify important messages and configure notifications by assigning unique sounds and alerts to priority emails.

For IT professionals Good Mobile Messaging 5 offers all of the advanced device and data protection capabilities that were previously available only through the Good Mobile Defense product. The new features include the possibility to set and enforce the installation of mandatory applications like anti-virus checkers in order to comply with corporate security policies; the possibility to prevent the launch of unapproved applications and to lock down the camera, infrared, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ports; advanced password and encryption management and the possibility to move users across servers to facilitate load balancing.

Good Mobile Messaging 5 supports a wide selection of smartphones and is compatible with both IBM Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange. The solution is currently available through cellular operators worldwide, certified resellers, and directly through Motorola Good Technology Group.
