Motorola's latest superphone, the RAZR is now available for purchase in India. As we reported last week, Motorola RAZR is priced at US$680 (495 EUR) outright and can be acquired from Flipkart.

The major retailer listed the device about a week ago, but did not disclose any further details regarding the phone's release date or price tag.

Three days after the DROID RAZR hit shelves in the United States at Verizon Wireless, Motorola launches its RAZR smartphone in India.

According to Flipkart, customers who purchase the Motorola RAZR will receive their devices in 5 business days and have the option to on delivery.

At first glance, the phone's price seems a bit steep, but that's the case with all the new smartphones that are launched in India through various major retailers.

Built on the popularity of the RAZR clamshell, the new Motorola RAZR has few things in common with the original model.

In fact, the only thing in common seems to be slim for factor of the handsets, as both have been advertised as “sharp razorblades.”

Software-wise, Motorola RAZR is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, which might be a disappointment for those who pay such a high price and not get the Ice Cream Sandwich.

However, customers can rest assured that the RAZR will be among the first smartphone to receive the Android 4.0 upgrade in early 2012, Motorola claims.

The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution is protected against scratches and accidental drops by Gorilla Glass display.

The phone is equipped with a powerful 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor and packs 16 GB storage, 1 GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On related news, Nokia also announced its Lumia 800 and 710 Windows Phone 7.5 Mango smartphone, which should arrive in stores by the end of the month.
