Two new WM smartphones for Canada

Fido Solutions, wholly owned subsidiary of Roger Wireless, announced the availability of Motorola Q 9h and Samsung JACK for its Canadian subscriber. The new devices are both running on Windows Mobile 6 and will bring 3G speed mobile browsing, unlimited personal emails and advanced business functionality. Fido customers will be able to create, view, edit and share Microsoft Office documents, send and receive unlimited emails from a maximum of 5 email accounts (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and other POP3/IMAP accounts included), as well as easily access popular websites like MySpace and Facebook.

"The typical Fido customer is a hip and young professional," said Patrick Hadsipantelis, VP, Marketing, Fido. "They are social urbanites who are constantly on the go and need to stay close to friends and colleagues. The addition of the Windows Mobile 6 devices to our portfolio offers our customers tremendous value in terms of unlimited emails and the ability to access information and content that is relevant to them, whenever and wherever they are."

Motorola Q 9h (also known as Motorola Q9) is a quad-band GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and quad-band HSDPA (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) device that provides data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. The handset comes with a 2.4 inch, 320 x 240 pixels TFT display, a full QWERTY keyboard, 5-way navigation button, Opera browser, Music player, Windows Media Player, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, 2 Megapixel camera with flash and video (30 fps) and so on. The phone measures 118 x 6.7 x 41.8 mm, weighs 118 grams and should provide a talk-time of up to 3 hours and a stand-by time of up to 10 days.

Samsung JACK is actually Samsung BlackJack II (or Samsung i617) and it offers quad-band GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, a 2.4 inch screen (320 x 240 pixels), full QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS, 2 Megapixel camera with video, WAP 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, embedded games and so on. Measuring 114 x 60.9 x 12.8 mm and weighing 115 grams, Samsung JACK can provide up to 2.5 hours of talk-time and up to 250 hours of stand-by time.

Motorola Q 9h is available for $275, while Samsung JACK comes for $225, both with a three-year Fido contract plus Windows Mobile option.
