Last week, mobile phone maker Motorola started pushing out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system version of its DROID devices available on Verizon Wireless’ network, and the company has decided to publish the full changelog for it, so that users know what to be looking for.

The mobile operating system is rolling out to all Droid Ultra, Mini, Maxx users on Verizon Wireless, providing them not only with the enhancements included in the Android 4.4.4 KItKat, but also with a series of improvements coming from the handset vendor itself.

The aforementioned release notes for this update have been published on Motorola’s website alongside instructions on how to download and install it.

“Android 4.4.4, KitKat, is the latest release of the Android platform. This release includes accuracy improvements to the power profile, several stability, framework and security fixes including update to OpenSSL,” Motorola writes on its website.

Moreover, the company says that the new platform iteration will offer users a series of camera improvements, including better image quality, courtesy of enhanced consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and better photos in low-light conditions when using front camera.

At the same time, the update will provide users with the possibility to pause video recording via a pause / resume button present on the viewfinder.

As part of the new platform upgrade, owners of Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, and Droid Maxx handsets will also take advantage of two updated Verizon applications, namely VZ Cloud and Visual Voicemail (VVM3).

The operating system update will also add the Isis mobile wallet application for contactless payment on the Motorola Droid Ultra, and will also resolve an issue with the Bluetooth connectivity for some users.

Additionally, the firmware refresh will enable the Motorola Alert application, which sends periodic alerts with user’s location to selected contacts.

According to Motorola, users interested in updating their devices should consider downloading the new platform iteration over a Wi-Fi network, while also making sure that the battery inside their devices has been charged at least at 50 percent.

The update will arrive over the air, and users will receive a notification on its availability. They will simply have to hit yes to download it, and then click on Install now to have it loaded on their phones (all devices will restart automatically when the installation process is completed).

Owners of Droid phones can also manually check on the availability of the update, by going to Settings > About phone > System updates. For additional info on the new upgrade, head over to Motorola’s support website.
