Mobile phone maker Motorola was rumored only a couple of days ago to plan the launch of a Multi-Room service, and it seems that the company has already done that. Its Motorola Multi-Room DVR is now available in the United States on the airwaves of Cincinnati Bell. According to the company, its market leading multi-room digital video recorder (MR-DVR) solution comes with a home media software application meant to run on up to eight DVR and non-DVR DCX set-top boxes. Through it, Cincinnati Bell subscribers would be able to pause live TV, record and play back content, manage DVR settings and more.

The MR-DVR solution from Motorola comes with support for the existing home coax wiring through the use of Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) technology. Basically, it creates an IP network at home, and offers support for intuitive time-shifting and place-shifting of videos. The solution is capable of enhancing the experience of all users, as it includes specific bookmark features for each room, and more. Not to mention that parents can set the content that their children have access to.

“We recognize that winning new video subscribers is becoming more challenging as new competition emerges. Our subscribers expect us to deliver high quality content and innovative services, and this latest MR-DVR solution from Motorola allows us to do that,” explained Darrick Zucco, vice president and general manager of Cincinnati Bell’s wireline services. “Consumers love the flexibility DVRs provide, and we are excited about working with Motorola to take that DVR experience throughout the home. Motorola’s solution gives us a cost-effective way to quickly extend our brand while offering service packages that appeal to broader audiences, which helps grow our business.”

The consumer demand for access to video content at all times, regardless the location, has been on the rise, Motorola notes, adding that its solution offers new ways for providers like Cincinnati Bell to stay on the loop with the delivery of advanced video services. “Motorola’s MR-DVR solution offers a compelling and differentiated subscriber experience that will help drive revenue growth on the top line while reducing equipment costs that will help improve profit on the bottom line,” Larry Robinson, vice president and general manager, Motorola Mobile Devices and Home, commented.
