The smartphone will be exclusively available via Flipkart

We reported yesterday on the upcoming release of the Motorola Moto X in India, but we’re still not sure when exactly the smartphone will go on sale and for how much.

As you may already know by now, Motorola Moto X will be exclusively available in India via Flipkart, so we expect the major retailer to offer more details on the device’s availability and price tag in the next few days, if not today.

In fact, Flipkart announced yesterday its first launch day offers, which included a 70% discount on Moto X cases with the purchase of the smartphone, or Rs 1,000 ($16 / €12) cashback with purchases on EMI.

It’s unclear if the retailer will announce additional promotional offers for Motorola Moto X, but it’s clear that the smartphone will be available in five colors and two wood-back options. Flipkart has also confirmed that it will only sell the 16GB model, but we don’t rule out a later release of the 32GB version as well.

Unfortunately, no details on the price tag have been disclosed yet, though Flipkart continues to tease customers on Twitter claiming that the price will only be revealed when the smartphone’s availability is announced.

Anyway, the folks over at AndroidOS have learned that Motorola Moto X may go on sale no later than tomorrow, March 19, for only Rs 23,000 ($375 / €270), which is slightly cheaper than the phone’s price in the United States, where Motorola currently sells it for around $400 (€285).

It appears that the first stock of 5,000 Motorola Moto X units have already arrived in India, which is why Flipkart may start taking orders for the smartphone beginning March 19.

Flipkart is expected to receive more Moto X units in the coming days, but the 5,000 units may be just enough to fulfil the first orders that the retailer will receive for the device.

We expect Flipkart’s stock of Motorola Moto X to deplete in less than 30 minutes, as the Motorola Moto G lasted about the same even though the retailer had more units available (8GB and 16GB models combined).

We recommend our readers to take the information with a grain of salt until Flipkart confirms the price and release date of the Motorola Moto X. We will keep an eye out for more details on the upcoming launch of the Moto X in India, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
