Motorola delayed the Moto G in India for the end of January, but Android fans will be pleased to know that the US-based handset maker will be releasing the affordable smartphone sometime this week.

BGR India reports that Motorola has decided to ink partnerships with various online retailers across the country in order to bring the Moto G to the masses.

In fact, it looks like Motorola Moto G will be exclusively available in India via online retailers. Flipkart has been confirmed as one of the authorized resellers for the Moto G, but other retailers may offer the smartphone as well.

According to the cited source, Motorola was in talks with Ingram Micro and Redington to bring the Moto G in various brick and mortar stores, but for unknown reasons, the negotiations failed.

It is also worth mentioning that Motorola will be launching the dual-SIM version of Moto G in India, though we’re not sure how much it will cost.

The smartphone has recently been launched in Australia and Malaysia, but neither country has the 16GB model available. This means that Indian customers will most likely be offered only the 8GB version at launch.

Even though previous statements have confirmed that the Moto G will be released in India with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, we’re certain this won’t happen.

Motorola Moto G is likely to ship in India with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform onboard, but Motorola will roll out an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade soon after release.

The only downside of the Moto G is the fact that it comes with only 8GB of internal memory (actual storage space is much lower) and the smartphone does not pack microSD card slot for memory expansion.
