No later than yesterday, Motorola officially introduced the affordable MOTOLUXE Android smartphone in the UK. Today, the handset maker announced that the smartphone would also be available for purchase in Germany.

Although there are no details on the exact release date of the MOTOLUXE, Motorola stated that the handset was expected to arrive in stores in March.

Tagged as a budget-friendly smartphone, Motorola MOTOLUXE will be priced at 279 EUR (370 USD) outright. According to Motorola, the smartphone will be available through Telekom, as well as leading retailers across the country.

Mostly aimed at fashionistas, Motorola MOTOLUXE features a stylish, sleek design and a candybar form factor. The selling points of the smartphone are the cheap price and some of its specs, which are unusual for a budget-friendly device.

In this regard, the MOTOLUXE comes with an impressive 8-megapixel camera, which features autofocus and LED flash, as well as a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a low-performance 800 MHz single-core processor, an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit, 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Software-wise, Motorola MOTOLUXE runs Google’s Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread platform with MotoSwitch user interface on top. The phone provides access to more than 400,000 apps via Android Market, and comes pre-loaded with Google’s full suite of services and apps.

It is also worth mentioning that the MOTOLUXE features a lanyard slot that lights up when a call is missed or when texts or emails are received.

By combining sleek style with Android brains, MOTOLUXE is ideal for people who want the latest technology in a sophisticated package. Not only does this smartphone have a big screen and the latest, greatest entertainment tools, it’s affordable and won’t take a bite out of your budget,” said Claudia Laepke, marketing director, Motorola Mobility Germany GmbH.
