Rumors on the upcoming release of the Motorola MOTOLUXE in Canada emerged several days ago, but no exact release date was unveiled.

Today, Motorola Canada official confirmed the launch of the MOTOLUXE in the country, though the company notes the phone will be available sometime in Q2 2012.

The smartphone is said to hit shelves at Bell Canada and Virgin Mobile for prices that will be announced close to launch.

Still, the smartphone might be released by other Canadian carrier as well, though we don’t have any addition details on this one yet.

Motorola MOTOLUXE is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform integrated with MotoSwitch UI. The smartphone provides access to more than 500,000 apps and games via Google Play store, formerly known as Android Market.

This is a mid-budget smartphone that sets the bar high when it comes to design. In this regard, the MOTOLUXE sets itself apart from other handsets in its price range through a unique multi-colored LED notification light, which notifies users on missed calls, texts or e-mails.

Other features that might make this one stand out is the large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display (480 x 854 pixels) and impressive 8-megapixel rear photo snapper, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

Hardware-wise, Motorola MOTOLUXE is not among the powerful Android phones available on the market, on the contrary. The handset is equipped with an 800 MHz single-core Qualcomm MSM7227A-0 processor and packs 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

With its stylish design and media features, MOTOLUXE is the perfect smartphone to complement our busy lives. Not only does MOTOLUXE have the power of Android, it also has a fun, adaptive and easy-to-use user interface, a big vibrant screen and a sharp camera to help you capture your everyday life,” said David Petrou, sales director, Motorola Mobility Canada.
