Mobile phone maker Motorola has recently unveiled to the world its second handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the Motorola DROID, which has been launched across Europe as the Motorola MILESTONE. The new device is the first one to sport the Eclair flavor of the platform (Android 2.0), and has been recently launched on the market in France, after hitting the shelves in Germany and UK not too long ago.

The Android 2.0-powered mobile phone is available for purchase from the online retailer Rue du Commerce, which has it available unlocked and SIM-free for a price tag of 520 Euros (a holiday price, we learn, as the full price is of 549 Euros). At the same time, the retailer also has the MILESTONE available for purchase with various contract offerings from carriers in the country, lowering the price for the phone even more.

The phone seems to be the best thing that has happened to Android until now, and also the best selling handset from Motorola. The DROID has been estimated to have been sold in over 700,000 units until now, which means that the handset vendor will be able to meet its 1 million units sold goal for the fourth quarter of the year. Now that the MILESTONE has reached yet another European market, the sales will certainly grow even more.

As for what the device is able to deliver to users, you might be already familiar with its 3.7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA resolution, as well as with its 5-megapixel photo snapper with dual LED flash, the side sliding full QWERTY keyboard (which goes to France as AZERTY), Wi-Fi connectivity options, aGPS, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth v2.1 capabilities, 3.5mm headphone jack, the email and messaging options it comes to the market with, not to mention HTML browser and multimedia features it sports.
