Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility has just announced the launch of its Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi Android-based tablet PC on the market in Singapore. The new device is set to hit shelves in the country starting with April 22, 2011. The Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi was launched on the market with Google's Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system on board, which was designed specifically for the new category of tablet PCs.

With this launch, Singapore becomes the first market in Southeast Asia to have the Motorola XOOM available for purchase.

When launched, the Motorola XOOM would pack a dual-core 1GHz processor, along with 32GB of internal memory, and 1GB of RAM.

The device also comes a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display that can deliver a 1280 X 800 pixel resolution, GPS receiver, and support for the latest Google Mobile services.

“Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi re-defines what the tablet experience should be,” said Spiros Nikolakopoulos, vice president and general manager, International Distribution Markets, Motorola Mobility.

“Designed from the ground up with the user in mind, it provides more ways to have fun, connect with friends and stay productive while on the go.

“Whether surfing the Web, watching the latest hit movie as it was intended or video-chatting with friends, Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi will delight customers with its ease of use, speed and vivid graphics, as well as its Motorola Smart Accessories.”

The specifications list of this tablet PC also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, withy HD video recording capabilities, along with a 2 MP front-facing camera for video calling via Google Talk.

The features list of Motorola XOOM also includes support for Adobe Flash Player 10.2, a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting, fast Internet connectivity, and support for applications available for download via the Android Market.

The tablet PC comes with a series of smart accessories, including:

A Standard Dock for watching video content or listening to music through external speakers as the device charges A Speaker HD Dock for sending HD content directly to a TV or clearly listening to music through two built-in speakers without attaching external speakers A custom Bluetooth wireless keyboard with special Android shortcut keys.
