On Wednesday, mobile phone maker Motorola announced the upcoming availability of its new Motorola FLIPOUT with MOTOBLUR handset on the market in Brazil. The device, which sports a square design, is powered by Google's Android 2.1 operating system, and hits the shelves with a pivot design that reveals a five-row QWERTY keypad when opened. According to the handset vendor, the new smartphone is expected to become available for purchase in the country in the first half of July, featuring a price tag of R$ 999.

The Android-based handset provides users with a number of up to seven customizable home screens, as well as with live, interactive wallpapers which came along with the Android 2.1 OS. At the same time, the handset comes with MOTOBLUR, Motorola’s UI for the Android OS. “The FLIPOUT with MOTOBLUR launch reinforces Motorola’s commitment to giving users a more complete and customizable Android experience while maintaining its heritage of innovative smartphone design”, said Sergio Buniac, Vice President of Mobile Devices for Motorola Brazil.

Through MOTOBLUR, users can enjoy an enhanced experience when it comes to syncing contacts, posts, messages, photos and more from various sources, including Twitter, Gmail, Facebook, MySpace and Orkut, work and personal e-mail, or Last.FM. These updates are automatically delivered straight to the phone's homescreen, for fast access. The solution was also designed to back up contacts, customizations, e-mail and social network messages to a secure server, while being able to wipe up data on the device in case it has been stolen.

The specifications list of the device includes CrystalTalk PLUS, aimed at reducing background noise to improve audio quality, along with a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 3-megapixel photo snapper with digital zoom, fixed focus and video recording capabilities, 3.5mm headset jack, USB 2.0 HS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity options, aGPS (assisted), eCompass, a 1170 mAh battery, and 512MB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB microSD card included in the package).

FLIPOUT brings optimal web and photo browsing to the palm of your hand with multi-touch pinch and zoom and is Adobe Flash Enabled to provide access to most content-rich websites. For music fans, FLIPOUT’s connected media player offers full screen lyric support, integrated song ID and a social solution for knowing what people around you are listening to,” the mobile phone maker states. The device comes with support for services such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, as well as with fast access to thousands of apps on the Android Market.
