Motorola celebrates the Oscars with style. The Handset maker announced the availability of DROID RAZR MAXX “Red Carpet” special edition smartphone.

The superphone comes in a special package that is customized accordingly. For example, the Academy Awards nominees for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress got the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX along with a gold sequined pouch.

On the other hand, nominees for Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor and Best Director have been given a high-end shaving kit. Both packages included a Motorola ELITE SLIVER Bluetooth headset.

Furthermore, those who are not eligible for this year's Oscars will have the chance to win five DROID RAZR MAXX “Red Carpet” special edition units online.

A Twitter sweepstakes is set to kick off today, February 23, to give five Motorola fans the chance to win this special edition DROID RAZR MAXX by retweeting #RedCarpetRAZR.

The DROID RAZR MAXX is an improved DROID RAZR, and comes with an enhanced 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is said to offer the most talk time. According to Motorola, the DROID RAZR MAXX's battery is rated for up to 380 hours of standby time or up to 21 hours of talk time.

The special edition sports the same sleek design and vibrant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution. For extra protection the screen features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

On the back, the superphone packs an impressive 8-megapixel photo snapper, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

The phone is powered by Google's Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system and packs a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing. The handset maker already confirmed the DROID RAZR MAXX would get an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade as well.
