Although Motorola GLEAM is not amongst the popular feature-phones launched by the US-based company, it appears that the handset maker decided to release a sequel.

Dubbed Motorola GLEAM+, the handset features the same clamshell form factor as the original GLEAM device, but slightly better specifications.

Initially, Motorola GLEAM+ will be launched in Germany in March via Telekom and other retail shops. The clamshell will be available for only 99 EUR (130 USD) off-contract.

The new sleeker version of the 2011 GLEAM clamshell measures 107 x 52.5 x 13.5mm and weighs only 105g (battery included).

Aimed at customers with simple but stylish phones, Motorola GLEAM+ offers users the possibility capture their precious moments via both camera and video.

However, the phone sports a sub-par 2-megapixel camera with fixed focus and digital zoom, which might not appeal to some customers.

Just like the original GLEAM, the improved version comes with a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB), but features slightly more internal memory. While the GLEAM embeds a mere 5MB storage, the GLEAM+ packs around 50MB onboard memory.

Motorola GLEAM+ has a crisp 2.8-inch WQVGA main display that supports 400 x 240 pixels resolution and 260k colors. There’s also an interesting LED matrix display on the outside, which provides various notifications and alerts.

In addition, the feature-phone boasts FM radio, MP3 player, USB 2.0, Bluetooth and headphone jack, as well as GPRS class 12 support. The phone’s 750 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 417 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.

The Motorola GLEAM+ is as a stylish and easy to use as ever for the consumer who enjoys the simple things in life, without compromising on design and functionality. We designed this handset with a clear focus on delivering a great experience in a simple, sleek and stylish design,” said Claudia Laepke, marketing director, Motorola Mobility Germany GmbH.
