It appears that Motorola Mobility switched its focus to Android smartphones and neglected feature-phones. That doesn’t mean that the US-based company won’t launch basic phones from time to time.

Unveiled last year at the Mobile World Congress 2011, Motorola GLEAM feature-phone made it to the market three months later.

For the time being, it’s unclear how successful the handset was on a market flooded with smartphones. However, chances are that Motorola sold quite a few Motorola GLEAM units, as the company decided to launch its sequel.

Dubbed Motorola GLEAM+, the clamshell is just a small step forward in comparison with the original model. The handset comes with a slightly larger internal display and a higher amount of storage.

It is also worth mentioning Motorola GLEAM+ is 0.4mm slimmer than the older version of the clamshell. The handset will soon be available for purchase in Poland for only 399 PLN (about 125 USD or 95 EUR) outright.

Customers can find the clamshell at selected carriers and retailers. Motorola GLEAM+ will be available in silver and white.

The GLEAM+ has a 2.8-inch WQVGA internal display that supports 240 x 400 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

There’s also a nice LED matrix display with icons on the outside. The purpose of the external display is to provide notifications and alerts when users miss a call or message.

The phone also packs 50 MB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB), as well as a 2-megapixel main camera. GPRS, Bluetooth and microUSB are available as well, along with Stereo FM radio with RDS support.

The phone’s 750 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 417 hours of standby time, or up to 5 hours of talk time.

The Motorola GLEAM+ is as stylish and easy to use as ever for the consumer who enjoys the simple things in life, without compromising on design and functionality. We designed this handset with a clear focus on delivering a great experience in a simple, sleek and stylish design,” said Małgorzata Matusiewicz, marketing director, Central Europe, Motorola Mobility.
