Customers who prefer basic mobile phones rejoice as Motorola GLEAM+ has just made it to the UK. The clamshell is now up for grab at Tesco Mobile, both in shops and online, from £10 a month.

The sequel to the Motorola GLEAM, which was launched on the market last year, the GLEAM+ comes with a slightly larger main display and more internal memory.

Design-wise, the two clamshells are almost similar, but the GLEAM+ is 0.4mm slimmer than its predecessor.

Unveiled back in February, the flip phone was showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

We had the chance to take the clamshell for a spin and notice that it fits perfectly in hand. Even though it’s just a basic feature-phone, Motorola GLEAM+ really stands out due to its simple and elegant design.

The main attraction of the handset is the external LED matrix display that provides users with a combination of glowing lights that notifies them whenever they miss a call or receive a message.

Motorola GLEAM+ sports a 2.8-inch main display that supports 240 x 400 pixels resolution and packs 50 MB of internal memory, which can be expanded via microSD card up to 16GB.

On the back, the flip phone features a sub-par 2-megapixel camera with fixed focus, digital zoom and video recording. It also comes with an FM radio and mp3 player, so users will be able to access their music wherever they are.

The phone drains energy from a rather low-capacity 750 mAh Li-Ion, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 417 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.

The Motorola GLEAM+ is as stylish and easy to use as ever for the consumer who enjoys the simple things in life, without compromising on design and functionality. We designed this handset with a clear focus on delivering a great experience in a simple, sleek and stylish design,” said Victoria McManus, UK and Nordics marketing director, Motorola Mobility.
