Still no word on its release date

Motorola EM30, the latest handset from Moto's ROKR family, was recently spotted in several live images, which might mean the phone could be officially unveiled soon. The new handset borrows a lot from the ROKR E8, which is already available in Europe, Asia and North America (T-Mobile is the carrier offering the E8 in the US).

Thus, the EM30 comes with the same slim candybar case as the E8 and the same music-centered features, including: dedicated external keys, music player (with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC formats), stereo Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headset jack and FM radio. Furthermore, the EM30 brings a flat morphing keypad, A-GPS (a feature that's not included in the E8), full HTML browser, email, Exchange ActiveSync, Instant Messaging, SMS and MMS capabilities, document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF), a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, microUSB and Montavista Linux 2.6.10 OS.

The exact internal memory of MOTOROKR EM30 is not known for the moment, but since the E8 has 2GB on board, the new EM30 might have a similar memory, which would be cool. Either way, the new ROKR has a microSD card slot ? so regardless of its internal memory, you can still have at least several GBs of storage space if a microSD card is acquired.

One of the drawbacks of EM30 (like in the case of E8) could be its display. Although it has a QVGA resolution (320 x 240 pixels) and 260K colors, it's only a 2 inch one, and a "good display" should have, I think, about 2.4 inches.

There's no word yet on the price and release date of Motorola EM30. Still, considering the fact that the handset was approved by the FCC at the end of May, we should expect it to hit the market by the end of the summer.
