The release date is getting closer

Motorola Droid, the second mobile phone the handset maker is expected to deliver to the market running under Google's Android operating system, has been already reported to be on its way to the market sometime at the end of October or in early November, and some of the latest news reports on the Internet are pointing towards this launch window as well.

A recent post on Phone Arena shows that Best Buy has already started to receive accessories for the device, something that can only suggest that the handset is about to become official and be put on sale. The shot attached to this article (below) shows clearly that the accessories came in for the Motorola A855, none other than the Android 2.0-based Droid that Verizon plans on at least announcing on October 30.

As many of you might already know, the mobile phone carrier already put a website in place where it advertises the capabilities of the upcoming Droid, which can do what Apple's iPhone can’t. The Motorola Android phone is already a popular device among enthusiasts, and the carrier is working on making it even more popular, that's for sure.

The website shows a counter that will stop on October 30, yet it is rather uncertain whether the handset will be actually launched at that moment or it will only be announced. Some of the latest rumors on the web suggested that November 6 would be the actual availability date for the Motorola Droid, and these suppositions might prove true in the end, especially since a promo video with the device also shows November as the availability time frame.

One way or the other, the one thing that is certain is that the handset is coming our way, and that Best Buy will also be offering it to mobile phone users in the US. It remains to be seen what exactly Verizon has in mind for October 30, and the same applies to the phone's availability in Europe (Droid has been spotted with support for European bands on board). Stay tuned for more.
